Countdown to Christmas
UNIQUE TIMES CALL FOR UNIQUE MEASURES...
and well, luckily, we like to think that we’re pretty unique!
We know things are a little tougher than they have been of late… so right on cue, we’re pleased to let you know that the wait is over – here’s your November update from Team Red Lion, choc-full of country fare and happy happenings.
A QUAINT CHRISTMAS IN EARLSTON
Yes, yes… we know that it’s a little early for some, but let’s face it – Christmas is the ultimate antidote to the woes of a challenging year. We’re certain that a little festive cheer can even help us get over the ultimate hurdle that has been - 2020!
While Earlston’s Christmas lights effort alone is good reason to visit… we thought you’d also appreciate knowing that the local events list is starting to beef up a little as organisers get the confidence to go live with some festive treats, here’s what we’ve spotted on the horizon.
GIN, GIN, GIN!
We know that a lot of our regular guests enjoy a little (or a larger) sip of premium gin! Which is why we were delighted to discover that Selkirk Distillers are offering little bookable slots for visiting their wonderful craft gin distillery. You can book online using their Facebook page.
PS: stay tuned to their Facebook as rumour has it that they’ll be hosting another of their popular virtual gin-tasting evenings again in December!
CHRISTMAS SHOPPING & FESTIVE FUN
Who could have imagined this time last year, that we’d have so much demand for outdoor shopping events?! It’s really just as well that the bonnie town of Selkirk will be playing host to their local market’s Christmas edition on the 5 December, from 9.30am -2.00pm, offering visitors a safe outdoor shopping experience. With a selection of craft workshops, brewery offerings, gift ideas – this is the perfect answer for any last-minute Christmas shopping needs. As always in these current times – keep up to date with event info ahead of your visit via Facebook.
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
Jacksons at Jedburgh are saving Christmas one day at a time with their festive activity programme! From festive wreath making workshops, family-friendly farm trips and even visits from Santa himself – book yourself some festive cheer today by clicking here.
Okay, so it’s not strictly ‘an event’, but country life is quiet and it’s been a tough year… so, we’re delighted that ‘Apples for Jam’ – of Melrose fame, will soon be opening a second café location right here in Earlston. Stay tuned to their Instagram for more information.
I'LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS...
As many of us are already preparing for a uniquely different Christmas, we thought it’d be a timely reminder to let you know that we still have some room availability for the month of December.
We know lots of you will be flocking home to enjoy Christmas with local relatives (or escaping the ones you’d rather zoom/ FaceTime from the beautiful Borders!). Because of our self-service check in, we have more availability than ever before, but spaces are filling up quickly, especially as folks anticipate and plan for a ‘Tier 2’ festive visit home.
So, don’t delay - let us make your festive break special, book today by clicking the link below.

A FINAL, BUT IMPORTANT SNIPPET…
We’re constantly monitoring and adhering stringently to the government advice on Covid-19 and implementing the necessary steps that must be taken to protect our guests and our staff.
We’d kindly ask that all bookings made (until further notice) are for single households only, as current government advice restricts mixing of households in any self-contained rooms or accommodation.
We’re grateful for your support and for helping us to follow this important guidance.
